The 20th edition of the BHP Enchanted Forest will go in the books as a record-breaking event for the popular Holiday Light Tour.
80,520 visitors took in the seven-week show at Saskatoon’s Forestry Farm Park smashing the previous record of 77,000 set during the 2017/2018 Season. Organizers attribute the success of the event to good weather, attractive displays including the new Charlie Brown’s Christmas, special promotions contests and giveaways, and the growing Christmas tradition for Saskatchewan residents to attend with friends and family over the holidays.
The Saskatchewan Blue Cross Light Walk also contributed to the huge numbers by attracting close to 9,000 visitors over just two nights. Net proceeds from the event will shared by the Saskatoon Zoo Foundation and Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation. Although it will take a while to determine the financials, this year’s numbers are expected to be higher than the $250,000 shared last year.
New displays and other event plans are already being discussed for the 21st Holiday Light Tour next year scheduled to open November 16, 2019. The winner of the Polar Bear Safari for Two to Churchill Manitoba photo contest courtesy of Classic Canadian Tours is Rebecca Zalaski, at University of Saskatchewan environmental science student. The winner was selected from more than 700 entries on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
The Saskatoon Zoo Foundation and Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation express their sincere THANK YOU to all sponsors and visitors for their awesome contribution.
