The Saskatoon Zoo Foundation and the Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation have secured the title sponsor for the popular BHP Enchanted Forest for another three years. BHP announced this morning that they will continue as Title Sponsor through the 2019/2020 edition of the holiday light tour that annually attracts more than 70,000 visitors and raises more than $200,000 each year for the partner foundations.
The sponsorship extension will take BHP beyond the 20th Anniversary of the light show in 2018/2019. This brings BHP’s financial contribution to the event to one million dollars over 10 years. Dawn Woroniuk, Saskatoon Zoo Foundation executive director; and Steve Shannon, Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation CEO; expressed their gratitude to Ken Smith, manager, Community for BHP; for the outstanding commitment made by BHP. The official title of the event now will be the “BHP Enchanted Forest”.
This year’s new display was also announced at the media event. “The Grinch in Whoville,” sponsored by the RUSH Lacrosse Club, is the latest work of master display builder Rick Steffen. The light display will be officially unveiled at the Light Up the Forest ceremony Thursday evening, prior to the Media and Sponsors Preview Night.
SaskTel and the SaskTel Pioneers continue a long running tradition themed “Families to the Forest”. Several inner-city families will tour the BHP Enchanted Forest in buses thanks to the generous sponsorship of Sasktel and the SaskTel Pioneers.
Saskatchewan Blue Cross kicks things off with the Push2Play Light Walk on Friday November 17th and the BHP Enchanted Forest opens to vehicular traffic on Saturday November 18th. The Forest is open for drive-thru traffic every evening from 5:30 PM – 10:00 PM through January 6th at the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park.
