Time on board taught him about areas of need in hospital
Greg Porter, former board chair, and his spouse, Patty Kirk-Porter, have pledged a multi-year gift to Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation.
Some funds were to sponsor Foundation events but the majority of this year’s gift will support the Foundation’s new Fellowship initiative. “Funding equipment is crucial but money has to go towards people, too,” Greg says. “Training and upgrading are important. Without the human being, equipment is not as tangible or valuable.”
His time on the board taught him about areas of need in the hospital and staff. “The Fellowship program will help fill gaps by letting doctors take advantage of unique and specialized training. They’ll return here with knowledge and experience.”
Greg ran his family’s company, Standard Machine, until a few years ago when he sold the business. He’s since created CTR Industrial Investments Inc., a real estate development and investment company.
Patty had previously volunteered with the Festival of Trees and has a background in health administration.
The Foundation thanks Greg Porter for his many years of service and both Greg and Patty for the generous gift and ongoing support.
