Wayne Pochynuk has worked with Clark Roofing for 45 years
Wayne Pochynuk started working for Clark Roofing (1964) in 1972. Two decades later he bought the company. Nearing retirement from his successful business, he decided it was time to give back.
Wayne notes a personal relationship with Saskatoon City Hospital. “Dr. Paul Murphy in the Eye Care Centre did cataract surgery on me and I asked him about donating.”
Dr. Murphy told Wayne about a piece the centre needed – Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty. The device is ideal for patients with glaucoma because it’s less invasive and can be used multiple times.
Wayne’s $100,000 gift helped the Foundation finalize the purchase.
“I wanted my gifts to purchase equipment,” Wayne says. “I wanted to do something nice for Dr. Murphy and I know glaucoma is not a nice disease to have. There’s always new and improved equipment coming out so it’s important to help the hospitals.”
The charitable spirit is recognition of his business success. “I’ve had a good run in the business for 40 years. This is my way of giving back to the community.”
